Simona Rukuižaitė is a visual artist and researcher who explores immersive engagements with substances of the landscape. Her practice revolves around the poetic gestures of observation, research of the geological origins of earth and mineral pigments as well as the contextual environments in which they occur. Through an interdisciplinary approach, Simona contemplates pigments as geological entities through tactile encounters grounded in empathy towards other-than-human.
Presently, Simona is a doctoral candidate in Fine arts (Vilnius Academy of Arts). She received a BA in Monumental Arts (fresco and mosaic) and continued her MA studies in Site-specific art.
