Crumbling State
2024
Crumbling State is a visual dialogue with ochres formed in the geothermal environments of Iceland. It is an attempt to bridge poetic and geological perspectives and articulate the language of ochres through their structural narratives. Emerged from the union of fire, pressure and water, these ochres formed in the geothermal environments of the Southwest part of Iceland and eroded into soft bodies that became witnesses of deep time beyond human perception.
The research was developed during a stay at SIM Residency in Reykjavik, Iceland (funded by the Lithuanian Council of Culture).
